What is a Lipofilling procedure?
Facial fat transfer, also known as lipofilling, fat injection, or autologous fat transfer, uses the patient’s own fat to restore or add volume to selected areas of the face. Fat is harvested from another area of the body, processed, and carefully transferred to areas where additional volume or contour improvement is desired.
Dr. Salim AYOUB performs fat injection and lipofilling in Lebanon using an individualized approach based on facial anatomy, available donor fat, and the patient’s goals. Because the procedure uses the patient’s own tissue, it can provide a natural approach to facial volume restoration in appropriately selected patients.
Depending on the patient’s anatomy and treatment goals, fat transfer can be considered for selected areas of the face and body.
A proportion of the transferred fat can survive long term, but some of the transferred volume is naturally reabsorbed. The final result varies between patients.
Neither is universally better. Lipofilling uses the patient’s own fat and may be appropriate for larger or longer-term volume restoration, while injectable fillers can be useful for more targeted treatments. The appropriate option depends on the area and treatment goal.
Yes. Fat harvesting is performed through a liposuction technique, and the same procedure can sometimes provide both contour improvement in the donor area and volume restoration in another area.
